Minoxidil, whose chemical name is 6-(1-piperidinyl)-2,4-pyrimidinediamine-3-oxide, is an organic substance that is white or off-white crystalline powder. Clinically, as a potassium channel opener, it can directly relax vascular smooth muscle, and has a powerful small arterial expansion effect, which reduces peripheral resistance and blood pressure without affecting the volume of blood vessels, so it can promote venous return.
