Properties: White crystalline powder. Similar to bile odor. Has a strong bitter taste. Easy to absorb moisture. Easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in anhydrous alcohol, insoluble in ether. The specific rotation is about +42.5º (c=2, in water).
Uses: To prepare culture medium to replace cephalin for cholesterol flocculation test and protein analysis.
